The Strong, Quick Alligator is Intuitive

Alligators have lived on the earth for millions of years so mythology links them with ancient wisdom. Alligators are opportunistic feeders. Their diets include prey species that are abundant and easily accessible. Juvenile alligators eat primarily insects, amphibians, small fish, and other invertebrates. Adult alligators eat fish, snakes, turtles, small mammals, and birds. Female alligators rarely exceed 10 feet in length, but males can grow much larger. Nearly all alligators become sexually mature by the time they reach approximately 7 feet in length although females can reach maturity at 6 feet. A female may require 10-15 years and a male 8-12 years to reach these lengths. Raccoons are the primary predator, although hogs, otters, and bears have been reported to depredate nests. Small alligators are eaten by a variety of predators including raccoons, otters, wading birds, and fish; however, larger alligators may be their most significant predator. Alligators live in freshwater environments and are considered an important species for maintaining ecological diversity in wetlands.

If the Alligator is your power animal, you’re quite shy and a bit of a loner. You may seem a little cold to others upon first meeting, yet given enough time, you warm up to them. When in social situations you tend to go unnoticed. You keep to yourself most of the time but when you do reveal yourself, others feel your strong presence. You appear to be quiet and thoughtful until someone invades your personal space. You’ll take your time assessing any troubling situation but when you do act, you do so swiftly and without hesitation. You prefer to wait patiently for opportunities to come to you. You have specific tastes and like to get exactly what you want. You have a gift for bringing harmony into life which helps you to survive and prosper. The alligator is a symbol of primal strength and ancient wisdom.
