Gorillas Are Smarter Than Most People Think

Gorillas are the largest living primates and are closely related to humans, sharing 98% of our DNA. They are typically divided into two species: the eastern gorilla and the western gorilla. The eastern gorilla can be further divided into two subspecies: the mountain gorilla and the eastern lowland gorilla. The western gorilla also has two subspecies: the western lowland gorilla and the Cross River gorilla. Gorillas can weigh up to 400 pounds and can reach up to 5.5 feet tall when standing upright. They have large, muscular bodies, long arms, and short legs.

Gorillas are known for their social behavior, living in groups called troops, which can consist of up to 30 individuals. Troops are led by a dominant male, known as a silverback due to the silver hair on his back. The silverback is responsible for protecting the group and making decisions about where to go and what to do. Female gorillas also play an important role in the group, with mothers caring for their young and other females helping to look after them. Gorillas are intelligent animals, with the ability to use tools and communicate through a range of vocalizations and body language.

Gorillas are herbivorous, feeding on leaves, stems, and fruits. Due to their large size and need for a wide range of food, gorillas need large areas of forest to thrive. People are often fascinated by these abilities and enjoy learning about them. Despite their large size and strength, gorillas are generally known for their gentle nature. They’re often seen interacting with each other and their young in a tender and caring way, which can be endearing. People are often drawn to them because they can see similarities in their physical appearance and behavior.

Gorillas are show-stealers since they are outgoing, energetic, and clever. They’re usually cheerful and enjoy being the “life of the party.” That said, gorillas can be egotistical with their aggressive desire for attention. Nevertheless, their spirit can help individuals tap into their inner strength, leadership abilities, and sense of community. Call on their spirit for guidance and support to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals. They’re intelligent, social, and live life very intuitively.
